RA Policy - Western Sydney of the Future Forum (Sydney)
29/06/2017 10:00 to 29/06/2017 14:30
Venue: Novotel Parramatta, 350 Church Street
The potential of western Sydney as an economic and social hub has long been acknowledged. But a lack of infrastructure and past planning mistakes have hampered the region from fully realising this enormous potential.
The coming of Sydney's second airport - and with it the upgrade of surrounding land transport infrastructure - is a game-changer for the west. At the same time, a stronger focus on the importance of integrated land and transport planning and greater co-ordination and co-operation across agencies and tiers of government has created a groundswell of optimism that western Sydney's day is dawning.
At this forum, we'll look more closely at the factors that are likely to shape Sydney's west down the track, and what subsequent opportunities and challenges might arise for those delivering the services and infrastructure of the future.
Our guest lunch speaker will be the Hon Stuart Ayres, Minister for Western Sydney and Minister for WestConnex. There will also be presentations from Transport for NSW, City of Parramatta, the Greater Sydney Commission and a panel discussion with representatives from industry and government.
