Based in Melbourne and led by Michael Kilgariff, Roads Australia employs a small, passionate team of professionals committed to helping government and industry deliver the best transport outcomes for all Australians.

Chief Executive Officer

Michael Kilgariff

Michael is the CEO of Roads Australia, an industry association whose 150+ members include all of Australia's road agencies, infrastructure owners, major contractors and consultants, motoring clubs, service providers, and other relevant industry groups.  In this and previous industry association roles, Michael has sought to build strong working relationships between industry and government, with the aim of supporting and achieving public policy outcomes that are beneficial to national productivity and efficiency.He brings to Roads Australia a keen understanding of the major economic, social and government policy drivers, combined with a broad understanding of the key issues impacting on the industry. In recognition of his work in this area, Michael won the CEO Magazine Transport and Logistics Executive of the Year category in the 2014 Executive of the Year Awards.Michael holds a degree in Economics from the Australian National University and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ diploma and advanced diploma courses. He also completed the Cambridge University Judge Business School Advanced Leadership Programme in November 2017.

Director - Events

Rachael Rooney

Rachael has 25 years of marketing and HR experience across a number of industries. Rachael has worked for National Rail, CRA, Minenco (CRA/Rio Tinto), AAPA and more recently CSR Emoleum/Emoleum as their Marketing Manager until 2004 and as a Consultant. Rachael joined Roads Australia to assist with marketing, event management, website management and member services. She holds a Graduate Diploma of Marketing with Distinction.

Accounts Manager

Veronica Ong

Veronica is a member of CPA Australia and has more than 20 years of accounting experience in both the public and private sectors. Prior experiences include working in a retail chain as an accountant and PwC as an auditor. Veronica has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Accounting from La Trobe University and holds an ACCA qualification from the UK. Veronica is extremely efficient and detail oriented. She is also used to producing high quality work, in a time sensitive environment. She is passionate about book-keeping and accounting and is committed to giving 110% to her work every single day.

Exec Director - Policy & Government

Natalie Collard

Natalie is a highly-regarded executive who has worked across the energy, agriculture, telecommunications, defence and foreign affairs sectors. She is a former CEO of Australian Dairy Farmers Ltd (her achievements there earning her a Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award). In 2018 she was named Woman in Renewables of the Year by the International Global Solar + Energy Storage Organising Committee for her work as Chair of Women in Renewables (Australia) and EGM Industry Development at the Clean Energy Council. Other career highlights include leading Telstra’s Corporate Affairs for Victoria and Tasmania. Natalie is currently on two boards and is also a Business Mentor for APEC Women’s programs.

Director - Communications

Mark Bowmer

Mark has worked as a journalist and corporate communications practitioner for over 30 years. His journalistic career started on Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper and has included stints in both metro and regional media. As a PR professional he has worked with some of Australia's leading public and private sector organisations, particularly in the building and construction sectors. He also has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and event planning and delivery. Away from work, Mark plays in a band with similarly aged 'mid-life crisers' and is a passionate supporter of the Cronulla Sharks.

Office Manager

Thao Nguyen

Thao holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Prior to commencing with Roads Australia, Thao worked as an accountant for number of years at Kathmandu, an internationally listed retail company. She was responsible for preparing monthly accounting reports, reconciliation, payables, receivables and payroll for approximately 100 stores across Australia and New Zealand. Since joining Roads Australia, Thao has further developed her overall office management skills.

Director - Stakeholders

Hannah Sauvarin

Hannah is a former Western Australian with a Bachelor of Commerce from UWA, winning the award for highest ranked graduate across the Marketing discipline. Since moving east, she has worked at the Institute of Public Administration and Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria across multiple stakeholder relations, governance and project management roles. Since joining Roads Australia in 2015, Hannah has played a key role in the growth and development of membership and program offerings, including the Fellowship and Young Professionals programs. She is a passionate stakeholder manager who thrives on bringing the right people together and delivering meaningful value for all members. To combat her true love of food and cooking, Hannah enjoys lots of volleyball, squash and running.

National Membership & Event Mgr

Marlie Curtis

Marlie plays a key role in managing our stakeholder and sponsor relationships, as well as our Diversity and Inclusion Program. She has an extensive background in event management in both the private and not-for-profit sectors (Institute of Public Administration Australia), including the co-ordination of RA’s successful participation at the IRF World Road Meeting in India in 2017. Working closely with industry and government stakeholders across Australia, Marlie has an intimate knowledge of the project pipeline and a keen understanding of infrastructure policy issues. She loves the ocean, weekends back to her home town and exploring all the newest restaurants.
