Roads Australia Future Leaders Committee

In 2016, the RA Board appointed its first Future Leaders Committee, previously Fellowship Council. The term of election is two years, with Committee supporting the Chair and Deputy Chair in guiding the activities of the Future Leaders Program.

Stuart Cook, Civil / Transport Lead - QLD, BG&E 

Stuart Cook is BG&E’s Transport Lead in QLD, leading a team of over 25 professionals in the planning, design and development of road and highway projects.

Stuart is currently Design Manager for over half a billion dollars of road infrastructure projects in QLD, including the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade, Rocklea to Darra Stage 1, the Smithfield Bypass Project and the Mount Lindesay Highway, Stoney Camp to Chambers Flat Project.

Verity Turner, Environment, Planning and Compliance Manager, M4-M5 Link, Transurban | WestConnex (NSW)

Verity is a specialist in environment and planning approval management, sustainability and stakeholder engagement with a proven track record in the delivery of environmental project management across a range of disciplines. Verity has extensive experience in the delivery of major transport and development projects across the private and public sectors for over 15 years including more than six years’ experience at a senior level on various
WestConnex motorway projects. Verity has a Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning from the University of Queensland and a Master of Environmental Law from the University of Sydney.

Richard Robinson, Engineering Manager – Transport Sector Lead Australia, McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) 

After graduating from Uni Richard spent 3 years working in Local Government (City of Greater Dandenong)  then moved to State Government spending 7 years working for VicRoads. While at VicRoads Richard worked in numerous roles spanning project development, the implementation of the Road Management Act and its supporting legislation, road maintenance and major infrastructure delivery.

Richard moved from the public to the private sector working in Engineering Management roles which has lead Richard to his current position at McConnell Dowell where he is the Engineering Manager across the Transport Sector for the Australian Business Unit.

Elena Macaulay, Services Director, Plenary 

Elena is the Services Director, Asset Management for Plenary Group with a particular focus on Commercial, Asset Management and overall services delivery in 
the long-term contracts and PPP environment. Elena has a broad experience in varying aspects of Asset and Lifecycle Management and associated commercial engagement models.

Rezarta Rushitaj Civil Lead Engineer, AECOM

Rezarta’s strong technical experience is matched by a passion for enhancing our industry’s gender and cultural diversity. Coming from a non-English speaking background, Rezarta has drawn on her own experiences to support initiatives that shape a more inclusive industry.

This includes serving on Engineers Australia’s Women in Engineering Committee, being an ambassador for the Workplace Gender Equality Agency’s ‘women’s work | men’s work’ campaign, volunteering for Engineers Without Borders and promoting engineering as a career of choice by speaking to school students, presenting at forums and mentoring early career professionals through AECOM’s Graduate Mentoring Program.

RA is looking look forward to the promise, passion and pursuit that Rezarta will bring as an ambassador for RA’s Emerging Leaders over the year ahead and continuing to support a more diverse and inclusive industry.
