The Federal and NSW Governments have announced RA member Abergeldie has been chosen to construct the New Dubbo Bridge across the Macquarie River, the floodplain and the adjoining road construction.
The $220.2 million project is a key component of around $1 billion in upgrades being delivered along the Newell Highway, with investments coming from both the Commonwealth and NSW.
Early works on the project have already commenced, with the Brisbane Street and Darling Street intersection works now well underway.
The New Dubbo Bridge is expected to deliver major benefits for both passenger and freight vehicles by enhancing traffic efficiency, reducing congestion, and improving access across the Macquarie River floodplain during flood events.
Major construction is set to begin in early 2023, with a planned opening by late 2026.
