The RA Young Professionals Series for the under-35's has been a huge success since its launch in 2017, tapping into a previously unfulfilled demand for 'industry-wide' networking and learning opportunities for the next generation of leaders.
Our events across Australia have brought together thousands of young professionals to share ideas and experiences, and to hear from current leaders about the challenges of 'stepping up' to the next level.
Our third Annual Gala Dinner and Award Presentation promises to be an evening of stellar networking for our YPs, with the keynote to be delivered by Transport for NSW's Elizabeth Mildwater.
We will also be awarding our Young Professionals 'PPP' Award (see details below) and hearing from our 2018 award winner.
Date: Thursday 7 November, 2019
Time: 6.30pm pre dinner drinks for prompt 7pm seated dinner (expected finish 10pm)
Where: Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, 23-32 Pirrama Road, Pyrmont

Elizabeth Mildwater, Deputy Secretary, Greater Sydney Division, Transport for NSW
Elizabeth's Division of TfNSW is responsible for integrating transport modes to deliver customer-centred services and infrastructure for the Sydney metropolitan area.
Prior to this role, Elizabeth held the position of Deputy Secretary of Customer Technology and Services, and before that Deputy Secretary of People and Corporate Services.
Before joining TfNSW, Elizabeth was Director of Australian Programs for Save the Children Australia. There she led a diverse workforce of over 500 people across Australia. She also spent five years at Transurban, as the Victorian Group General Manager with responsibility for the operations of CityLink in Melbourne.
Elizabeth has more than 25 years’ management experience across customer services, legal, company secretarial, compliance, risk, management, human resources and general operations.
She holds a degree in Law and Economics, a Masters of Contemporary Asian Analysis and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in the USA. She is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Elizabeth is passionate about harnessing employee engagement and new technologies to achieve new levels of customer service.
YOUNG PROFESSIONALS 'PPP' AWARD - Promise, Passion and Pursuit
To support the development of young leaders in our industry, RA is offering the opportunity for one Young Professional to engage in a 12-month industry exposure and ambassador experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to observe and understand how leaders interact and make decisions, and to play an integral role in the growth and development of Roads Australia's YP network.
The successful applicant will have year-long access to a range of unique and invaluable opportunities:
- complimentary attendance at exclusive RA boardroom events, with exposure to other CEOs and influential leaders from the public and private sectors (including some travel where necessary);
- actively contribute to Young Professionals events, including speaking and facilitating;
- observer position on our Fellowship Council, contributing to the growth and development of the Fellowship and Young Professionals networks; and
- free attendance at RA industry events.
We will be awarding this prize at our Gala Dinner to a Young Professional who shows Promise, Passion and Pursuit in expanding his or her knowledge and leadership capability.
Nominees are required to submit a two page application outlining:
- Name, title, organisation
- Phone number and email address
- Why you deserve to be selected for this opportunity (please outline any key achievements or industry contribution to date)
- Why you would be a good ambassador for Roads Australia
- What you’d like to take out of it (what questions you want answered, what learnings you hope to gain, and how you think you can use it to progress your career)

Bookings are to be confirmed and paid in full 48 hours prior to the event. Bookings received 48 hours prior to the event cannot be guaranteed unless a confirmation has been received by the Events Director. Cancellations should be notified in writing by email. Cancellations received prior to one week before the event will receive a full refund less 25%. No refund will be applicable for cancellations received after one week prior to the event although substitute delegates are welcomed.

Registration and/or attendance also implies consent to be photographed at the event, and for those photographs to be used in various media for the purposes of promotion and publicity.
