Join us as we host Gary Swain at our next Hobart Single Table Lunch

Gary will provide an update on how Tasmania is working to prepare its transport networks for continued population growth and enhance the state's economic capacity. As well as providing an update on progress of major transport infrastructure projects, Gary will also discuss opportunities around procurement and road safety initiatives now being implemented in Tasmania.

We are pleased to welcome Gary for an update on the progress of what's to come.

OUR SPEAKER

Gary Swain has progressed through a number of public and private sector organisations over the past twenty five years, working primarily in the infrastructure sectors of transport, electricity, natural gas and water and sewerage. His diverse management roles have often involved business improvement and change management across a range of functional responsibilities, including strategy and policy, regulatory decision making, project and reform delivery, capital program delivery and operational management.

Gary currently holds the positions of Deputy Secretary, Transport and Infrastructure Services Group, Department of State Growth, Transport Commissioner for Tasmania, Minister’s Delegate for the West Coast Wilderness Railway, Director Austroads and is a member of the Road Safety Advisory Council for Tasmania.

As Deputy Secretary, Transport and Infrastructure Services, Gary has responsibility for three operating divisions (State Roads, Road User Services and Infrastructure Tasmania), the New Bridgewater Bridge Project and Tasmania’s Stadium and major sporting capital delivery program.

The role of Commissioner for Transport involves making complex statutory decisions, directly and through delegation.  The role supports co-ordinated outcomes between road managers, particularly state and local government.
