RA members Georgiou and BMD have been chosen to deliver a substantial upgrade of Brisbane’s Centenary Bridge, which is a critical link between the CBD and the western suburbs.
Jointly funded by the Federal and Queensland governments, the $298.5 million project will double capacity on the vital river crossing at Jindalee, delivering a new 3-lane northbound bridge, rehabilitation of the existing bridges to 3 lanes southbound, and providing opportunities for improved active transport.
The existing bridge carries around 85,000 vehicles per day, and with modelling showing approximately 152,000 vehicles per day will need to use the route by 2036, this upgrade project is a critical investment in ensuring efficient journey times as Brisbane’s population grows.
Construction is due to commence this year.
