The transport infrastructure sector in Australia and New Zealand is mourning the recent death of Gary Cowley, who passed away aged 59 following a horrifying incident in a shopping centre carpark.
Gary was one of six people hit by the driver of a car in the carpark of the Westfield Manukau mall in Auckland in mid-March. Sadly, he died in hospital several weeks after the incident.
Gary will be well known and remembered by many in the industry, having worked in senior roles with CPB Contractors, Ventia, TSA Management, UGL and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, among others.
Gary also served as a captain in South African National Defence Force, and was renowned for his passionate commitment to veterans’ affairs and the remembrance of fallen soldiers.
RA extends its sympathies to Gary’s wife Michelle (who was also injured in the incident), his daughter Kayleigh and son Tyron, as well as Gary’s many friends and colleagues.
