As a Principal Partner for National Road Safety Week, RA was pleased to be present at Sunday’s official launch in Melbourne with Peter Frazer OAM and Victoria’s Minister for Roads and Road Safety Hon. Ben Carroll MP.
The launch was attended by a range of representatives from government, industry and community organisations who are all committed to enhancing the safety of our road network for all road users.
Peter Frazer OAM founded National Road Safety Week following the tragic death of his daughter Sarah in a completely preventable road crash ten years ago.
From small beginnings and with the support of many industry participants, including RA members, National Road Safety Week is now observed across all jurisdictions, with iconic buildings and infrastructure lit up in yellow throughout the week and a range of community events being held to remind us all of the need to look after others on our roads.
Sunday’s launch event was a chance to hear moving personal stories directly from those who live every day with the consequences of road trauma. We were reminded that we all have a role to play by actively committing to looking after all those on the road ahead and ensure everyone on the road gets home safely every day, with no exceptions.
