Major advance on Joy Baluch AM Bridge duplication

Traffic is now flowing across the newly constructed section of Port Augusta’s Joy Baluch AM Bridge duplication, as work moves to focus on upgrading the existing section of the bridge.

The Joy Baluch AM Bridge is a crucial connection in the National Land Transport Network. enabling passenger, freight and tourist vehicles to move across the Spencer Gulf. The $200 million duplication is being supported with investments from the Federal and the South Australian governments.

The project will improve road safety and efficiency for all users, enhance freight productivity and improve the resilience of this critical road link in the nation’s road network. The new infrastructure will also be safer for people walking or cycling across the bridge.

The works are being delivered by the Port Wakefield to Port Augusta (PW2PA) Regional Projects Alliance, a consortium that includes RA members CIMIC Group’s CPB Contractors, Aurecon and GHD.

The project is expected to be completed later this year.
