Roundtable supports development of Road Safety Action Plan

RA was pleased to be part of this week’s Road Safety Roundtable in Melbourne, convened by the Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Senator the Hon. Carol Brown.

The roundtable discussed the ‘Nine Priorities Towards Vision Zero’ outlined in the National Road Safety Strategy 2021-30 and its draft supporting National Road Safety Action Plan.

RA used the conversation to highlight several key elements of our submission to last year’s parliamentary inquiry on road safety, particularly in relation to the collection of more comprehensive data around crashes and near misses involving road workers, as well as opportunities to improve regional road safety by prioritising low-cost treatments that can be effective in saving lives.

The Federal Government has committed to using the views put forward at the roundtable to help strengthen the further development of the draft Road Safety Action Plan.
