Coffey Testing is celebrating 65 years of operations within the Construction Materials Testing industry.
Established in 1959, Coffey Testing has been providing expert opinions on soil, concrete and aggregate testing across the residential, transport, infrastructure, mining, energy and defence sectors.
Across more than six decades of work, Coffey Testing has shown a commitment to providing each staff member equal opportunities to progress and upskill through its internal staff training, and external training partners.
After all this time Coffey Testing remains Australian owned and proud of its ‘Australian Owned’ certification, bestowed by the official Australian Owned organisation.
Australian Owned General Manager, Kristy Ponting, recently said that this commitment is about more than just providing opportunities.
“It’s bolstering what we already have here in Australia- it’s reinforcing and enabling us to take that next step towards self-sufficiency. Coffey Testing has a strong influence in respect to employing locally, which is demonstrated by its staff and locations across Australia,” Ms Ponting said.
“It’s wonderful that Coffey Testing has achieved its certification and has been recognised for being so socially responsible in its operations and commitment. We’re proud of their operations and this partnership, we love celebrating that fact.”
Coffey Testing has also taken significant and proactive steps in gender equity. Early work at the company in this space has been built on by Dawn Watt, who became Chief Executive Officer in June 2019 and is still currently in the role.
As of September 2023, Coffey Testing had 40 female lab employees, six of whom are in positions of management across 12 labs, and of the senior leadership team, 40 per cent were women.
Further demonstrating Coffey Testing’s commitment to a more equitable society, late last year a partnership was announced with Surfing Victoria that will see Surf Her Way Women and Girls Surf Sessions at URBNSURF in Melbourne.
Coffey Testing will also become presenting partner of the Victorian Teams Titles event, one of the longest running Boardrider Club events in the country, in existence since 1976, and one of the only club events in the country with a female only division.
