An alliance comprising RA members Laing O’Rourke, and Jacobs (along with Metro Trains) will work in partnership with the Level Crossing Removal Project to deliver $721m in works that will remove four level crossings in Melbourne’s east.

A $149 million contract will see the Bedford Road level crossing removed in Ringwood, while another $572 million package will deliver the removal of level crossings at Dublin Road (Ringwood East), Coolstore Road (Croydon) and Cave Hill Road (Lilydale).

A new Ringwood East Station will be delivered as part of the Dublin Road level crossing removal, which will provide 460 new and upgraded car parking spaces.

The removal of the Coolstore Road level crossing will also enable construction of a new Croydon transport hub that will incorporate a new premium station, a new bus interchange and new active transport infrastructure.

Works are due to commence next year, with all four crossings set to be removed by 2025.
