“Today’s announcement underlines the value of governments encouraging market-led proposals to address the critical infrastructure needs of our cities,” Roads Australia President, David Stuart-Watt, said.
“This robust, collaborative process demonstrates yet again how governments and industry can successfully work together to come up with viable solutions to our urban traffic and transport challenges.”
Mr Stuart-Watt said the city-shaping Western Distributor project had the potential to not only boost productivity but contribute to making Melbourne a more liveable city by relieving congestion and funnelling Port traffic away from suburban streets.
“We look forward to seeing the project progress to the next stage of public consultation, planning and procurement.”
