RA member SYSTRA ANZ recently had the privilege of hosting a case competition for UNSW students in partnership with UNSW Women in Engineering Society at NSW Parliament House.
SYSTRA ANZ specialists Zoltan David, Shiyam Madan, Michael Smith and Guillaume Paix provided mentoring support to teams who provided innovative solutions on how Sydney’s mobility services could be adapted to reach the net-zero carbon emissions target by 2050.
The competition was judged by Kate Moncrieff and Farid Shirvani, with the students awarded prizes that include the winning team joinging SYSTRA ANZ CEO Alana Newbrook and EGM-Transport Helen Williams MRAES, CEng,EngExec for a dinner.
The winning team comprised Ashley Wong, Mai Pham, Mariya Poloziuk, and Amanda Lu, who proposed a solution around introducing meaningful ways for more electric vehicles in the community and public transport sector.
All of the teams came up with meaningful and well thought through responses to the case study, that included review of publicly available statistics and modelling of forecasted trends.
The presentations were communicated clearly and SYSTRA ANZ was excited to see the impact that these students will make when they enter the workforce. The innovation and commitment to sustainable solutions of future generations was clearly at the heart of this cohort.
