Roads Australia welcomes NT Budget

May 1, 2018 – The road and transport industry has welcomed the Northern Territory Government’s $1.45 billion infrastructure program in the 2018/19 Budget.

“Today’s budget will see more jobs and more private sector investment flow into the Territory, which is welcome news for our industry,” Roads Australia Chief Executive Ian Webb said.

“The NT Government is keen to continue to attract more big infrastructure projects to the north as they continue to grow their population and diversify the economy.

“At the same time, they are investing a record $1.45 billion in infrastructure projects, including more than $620 million to build, repair and maintain roads and the public transport network.

“This includes upgrades to the Adelaide River floodplain on the Arnhem Highway, Barneson Boulevard, Keep River Plains Road, Plenty High and the Tanami Road.

“The NT Government’s commitment to continue sealing and upgrading roads is essential to unlock development, opportunities and jobs in a range of areas such as agribusiness, tourism and mining.”
