A joint venture comprising RA members Ferrovial and Gamuda Australia has been awarded a major contract to design and construct the 14km Coffs Harbour Bypass, which is expected to create around 600 jobs during its construction.
The project will deliver four lanes of divided motorway bypassing the Coffs Harbour CBD, taking thousands of vehicles out of the centre of town and saving motorists time by avoiding up to 12 sets of traffic lights. Consistent with the environmental planning approval, the works will also include delivery of three tunnels at the major ridgelines.
Early works (including the relocation of utilities) have been occurring over the past 18 months, and major construction work is expected to commence in March 2023, with the bypass expected to open to traffic in 2026.
The $2.2bn project is jointly funded by the Federal and NSW governments, Learn more here
