Stage 3 of the Gold Coast Light Rail project is moving ahead, with RA member Arcadis wining a contract from the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to provide design, construction, testing and commissioning, and completion review, verification and certification of the project works.
The third stage of the project will involve delivery of a 6.7km extension south of the existing tram network, linking Helensvale to Burleigh Heads. There will be eight additional stations provided along this section of the route.
Arcadis will work with APP Corporation to deliver the project, with major works slated to commence this month and completion expected in 2025.
Belinda Virant, Managing Director of the Transportation business at Arcadis Australia, said: “Arcadis is proud to support Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads on the third stage of the Gold Coast Light Rail project.
“The Gold Coast and wider southeast Queensland is a thriving region requiring modern transport options to support swift mobility for those living, working and travelling in the area. This will be especially important during peak periods such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
