The Federal and NSW Governments announced contractors for the southern and northern sections of the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace immediately prior to Christmas.
The John Holland/Gamuda Joint Venture has been selected to build the 10-kilometre southern section from Black Hill to Tomago, while the five-kilometre northern section that bypasses Heatherbrae will be delivered by Seymour Whyte Constructions.
The $2.1 billion extension is being funded by the Federal and NSW Governments on an 80:20 basis. It is anticipated the completed project will divert 25,000 vehicles away from key congestion areas each day and reduce journey times by up to nine minutes in peak periods.
It’s expected the extension will open to traffic in mid-2028.
