RA Fellows undertake M6 Stage 1 visit

Roads Australia’s 2023 New South Wales Fellows have taken away valuable insights from a site visit of the M6 Stage 1 project, facilitated by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and its CGU delivery partners in CPB Contractors, Ghella and UGL.

The RA Fellowship Program is a unique mentoring initiative that matches industry ‘up and comers’ with some of the most experienced, senior leaders in the Australian infrastructure sector. The 2023 intake includes individuals from across a broad range of careers including law, consultancy, engineering, marketing, communications and project management.

Understanding the diverse careers within the transport industry, TfNSW and its CGU delivery partners tailored an engaging site visit to the individual interests of RA’s Fellows. The visit allowed Fellows to see the construction currently underway on twin four-kilometre tunnels, linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah, driving increased transport integration while removing 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads in order to deliver the M6 Stage 1 project.

Fellows heard from a range of Directors and benefited from presentations on tunnel construction, excavation, technical design, planning, environmental impact and urban renewal.

RA would like to thank all involved for organising this site visit with Fellows taking away invaluable information from senior professionals on the frontline of transport infrastructure delivery.

2023 Victorian based RA Fellows are now preparing for their upcoming West Gate Tunnel site visit on October 6 with RA looking forward to supporting new experiences for emerging transport leaders across the nation.
