An alliance of RA members has been selected as the preferred contractor to deliver a key project within the Victorian Government’s Regional Rail Revival program.
The Djilang Alliance – comprising McConnell Dowell, Downer, Arup and WSP Australia – will work with Rail Projects Victoria to deliver the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication. Jointly funded by the Federal and Victorian Governments, this project will duplicate around 8 kilometres of track between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds, deliver rebuilt stations at Marshall and South Geelong and remove level crossings at Fyans Street and Surf Coast Highway.
The package of works also incorporates signalling upgrades and the construction of around 5 kilometres of shared user paths. When completed, the project will improve capacity on the line by enabling 5 train services per hour during the peaks and 3 per hour between the peaks for Marshall and Waurn Ponds stations.
Construction is expected to begin later this year and works are expected to be completed by late 2024.
