Roads Australia welcomes leadership on road user charging reform

Media statement from Roads Australia CEO, Ehssan Veiszadeh on road user charge reform

“Roads Australia welcomes the Federal Treasurer’s announcement that options will be developed around implementing a Road User Charge.

“This is a critical step toward ensuring a fairer and more sustainable approach to how we fund and maintain our road networks. As fuel excise revenues continue to decline, it is essential that all road users contribute equitably to the cost of road use and maintenance.

“Roads Australia has long advocated for reform that reflects the changing nature of vehicle technology and road usage. Our members are well placed to support this work, drawing on deep expertise and international experience in the design and delivery of road funding systems.

“We look forward to engaging further as this important work progresses.”
