Sydney Metro has received planning approval to build nine new stations and precincts in Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Sydney CBD as part of Sydney Metro West.

The third Environmental Impact Statement for Sydney Metro West was on public exhibition last year, with stakeholders and the community invited to comment. Feedback is now helping to refine plans for how these station and precincts will look, feel and operate ahead of construction planned to commence in 2025, and operations in 2030.

Additionally, planning approval has also been received for rail infrastructure and a stabling and maintenance facility at Clyde.

This follows planning approval for station excavation and tunnelling between Westmead and The Bays, granted in March 2021 and between The Bays and Sydney CBD, granted in September 2022.

Future planning approvals are currently underway for over and adjacent station development at Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, Pyrmont and Hunter Street, and will be subject to further community and stakeholder engagement.
