A helping hand for flood recovery

The team at RA member CIMIC Group are helping flood-affected communities in New South Wales and Queensland to rebuild, with an employee matched giving program raising $50,000 to support the Red Cross and Lifeline’s work with local communities on the ground.

CIMIC Group also made a further donation of $250,000 to the Business Council of Australia’s disaster response initiative, BizRebuild, which supports recovery efforts for small businesses via the Community Rebuilding Trust.

The dollar-for-dollar matched giving program means generous employee donations can go further in supporting on-site relief centres, as well as phone and online crisis support services. The effort was supported by team members from CPB Contractors, Broad, Sedgman, UGL, Pacific Partnerships and EIC Activities.

CPB Contractors provided additional practical support, supplying two self-contained portable offices to Lifeline when their Lismore office was flooded. This allowed Lifeline to continue providing support to vulnerable members of the community during a time of acute need.

BizRebuild is using donations to provide affected businesses with $2000 vouchers to replace tools and office equipment, as well as $500 vouchers for local legal and accounting services to help small business owners develop recovery plans.
