Sponsored by Altus Traffic, the lunch brought together over 100 industry and government leaders to focus on the biggest projects on Victoria's immediate transport infrastructure horizon.
The Victorian Government has allocated $2.4 billion in its 2015-16 budget to remove at least 20 level crossings by 2018. These sites form the basis of a long-term strategic plan being developed to remove 50 level crossings by 2022.
Meantime, the $9-11 billion Melbourne Metro, currently in the planning stages, will deliver two two nine-kilometre rail tunnels from South Kensington to South Yarra, travelling underneath Swanston Street in the CBD, as part of a new Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham line. Five new underground stations are also planned, as well as two new train/tram interchanges.
As Co-ordinator General, Corey has oversight of the projects and was keen to discuss with RA members the opportunities for private sector engagement in both projects.
