New Echuca-Moama Bridge to open early

Good news ahead of the Easter holiday period, with the new Echuca-Moama Bridge on the Victorian-NSW border set to open months ahead of schedule.

Jointly funded by the Federal, NSW and Victorian Governments, the new river crossing will provide additional capacity for this growing tourism and events destination. The new bridge over the Murray measures 622 metres across the floodplain and sits 15 metres above the riverbanks. The project also includes a new 4.5 km pathway for walking and cycling.

The early opening is particularly remarkable given that much of the construction period has also coincided with COVID-related travel restrictions, including the closure of the border between Victoria and NSW.

In November last year, RA was given a tour of the site by our members Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) and McConnell Dowell who have delivered the project – see the video here.
