Roads Australia is sending its condolences to the family, friends and Seymour Whyte team following the passing of co-founder, John Seymour.
Mr Seymour (1941-2024) founded Seymour Whyte with Garry Whyte in 1987 as a small civil construction company in Queensland, with the company awarded its first contract in the form of a Stanthorpe road upgrade in 1988.
In recent years Seymour Whyte has expanded into Victoria and South Australia, opened a new office in Perth and received its first contract in Western Australia.
Mr Seymour is being remembered for his visionary and innovative leadership, playing an integral role in shaping the values of the organisation and turning a Queensland base civil construction company into a national infrastructure giant.
His legacy will live on across Australia in the form of more than 500 projects delivered by the company bearing his name.
