RA Young Professionals Event (Melbourne)

Melbourne’s future relies on today’s Young Professionals facing the transport challenges of tomorrow.

Our second Melbourne Young Professionals event for 2018 will bring together Peter Ryan, Managing Director of WBHO, and Claire Quinlan, Highways Business Leader at Arup, to look at transport trends and what influence our next generation of leaders will have on how Melbourne’s growing population moves around.

Claire brings a wealth of experience to the discussion, including lessons from her recent international study visit to some of the world's most advanced cities, while Peter (representing the leading contractor for Victoria’s $1b Suburban Roads Upgrade) will shed light on the reality of construction and the challenges of growing the city outward.

While we welcome attendance from all members, our YP network is targeted at the under-35's age bracket.

Claire Quinlan, Highways Business Leader, Arup

Claire Quinlan is the Victorian Highways Business Leader at Arup, responsible for people leadership, project delivery and business development across the highways business. A Chartered Civil Engineer with 18 years of consulting experience in Australia and the UK, delivering projects for private and public-sector clients across transport, water, energy, defence, education and health sectors.

She is actively involved in industry and has been an industry mentor for Monash University. She supports a range of industry bodies including Engineers Australia through interviewing of CPEng candidates, she has presented at industry conferences on project delivery and the future of infrastructure and also recently participated in the Roads Australia Cities for the Future study tour.

Peter Ryan, Managing Director, WBHO

Peter holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Business, Master of Project Management and a PhD. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School, a Fellow and Engineering Executive of Engineers Australia, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an Honorary Fellow of Melbourne University.

Peter  was formerly General Manager of Leighton Contractors, where he led a successful program of strategic transformation and represented the company on numerous boards.

His executive career has been focused on leading high-growth businesses across Australia, South East Asia and the South Pacific.




Bookings are to be confirmed and paid in full 48 hours prior to the event.  Bookings received 48 hours prior to the event cannot be guaranteed unless a confirmation has been received by the Events Director. Cancellations should be notified in writing by email.  Cancellations received prior to one week before the event will receive a full refund less 25%.   No refund will be applicable for cancellations received after one week prior to the event although substitute delegates are welcomed.
