RA joins Infrastructure Net Zero initiative

Roads Australia has today partnered with six private sector peak bodies and three federal agencies for the launch of the Infrastructure Net Zero initiative.

The primary objective of Infrastructure Net Zero is to meet or exceed, through collective action, national decarbonisation targets, something infrastructure stakeholders will play a key role in.

The launch included a keynote speech from the Hon. Catherine King MP, Minister for Industry, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government with further dialogue from Nicole Lockwood, Independent Chair of Infrastructure Net Zero.

RA, together with other key stakeholders in the industry have come together for this initiative to:

  • agree on common goals and sectoral targets;
  • align on the pathways to achievement;
  • co-ordinate and collaborate on action; and
  • monitor and report on progress.

RA is committed to supporting Australia’s pathway to decarbonisation and is set to play a significant role in delivering the NetZero work plan. This program will build on RA’s previous work in this space, including the Journey to Net Zero report, developed in collaboration with ARA, ISC, KPMG and Arup, as well as RA’s Procurement Reform Report and subsequent Procurement Reform Update in late 2022.
