RA is pleased to note that the report of the House of Representatives Inquiry into procurement practices for government-funded infrastructure supports a number of recommendations we put forward in our own submission.
These include:
- improving workforce culture to attract and retain skilled workers from diverse backgrounds;
- embracing the productivity and safety benefits offered by digital engineering;
- establishing a coordinated national pipeline of projects that enables more effective planning and delivery of projects; and
- reviewing our approach to contracting and risk management to embrace more collaborative models.
As noted in RA’s recent submission to the Productivity Commission, these issues are central to improving productivity and maximising the community benefits of transport infrastructure.
We will continue to pursue these priorities with governments and industry over the weeks and months ahead.
